The Toyota Corolla first debuted in 1966. It's undergone a lot of changes and updates in the intervening decades and generations, to become the popular, four-door sedan drivers throughout Le Roy and Albion know and trust today. At our West Main Road dealership in Batavia, we currently have a nice selection of both 2020 Corolla models and new 2021 models in our new vehicle inventory, and we want to help you get to know each one a little better.
The 2020 Toyota Corolla
2020 was a big year for our old friend the Corolla. That was the first year of this current, 12th generation, and it gave us a number of exciting updates, including an all-new hybrid sedan option. Available in five trim level options, the 2020 Corolla continued to deliver the spacious interior, cavernous trunk space, and comfortable ride that drivers had come to expect from the Corolla, with a few new updates mixed in.
With the addition of the hybrid powertrain to the lineup, the 2020 Toyota Corolla is offered in three remarkable powertrain options, depending on your preference for performance, responsiveness, and efficiency. The complete lineup includes:
- The base engine, a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine with 139 horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque
- An optional 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine for upper trims that's rated for 169 horsepower and 151 pound-feet of torque
- The new hybrid, based on the same 1.8-liter four-cylinder powertrain as the entry-level models, working here with an electric motor to produce a combined 121 horsepower and better fuel economy ratings
Four Key Differences Between the 2020 Corolla and the 2021 Corolla
If you're in the market for a new Corolla for your Medina area drives, we can't blame you. This versatile, well-rounded car promises many miles of unparalleled driving quality and reliability. If you find yourself wondering whether our growing collection of 2021 models is for you or if you a 2020 model is calling your name, we can help.
Following on the heels of the fantastic upgrade that is the 2020 model, the 2021 Corolla makes a few small changes mostly to the lists of standard features and options. To help you make the right decision for your needs, we've highlighted these four key differences between the two models:
- New smartphone integration. Android Auto is now standard across the Corolla lineup.
- New safety features. Air bags have been added to the rear seat of the Corolla for 2021, helping to protect your passengers in case of an emergency.
- New start / stop. A good start / stop system can help you save money on gas and cut down on emissions, even if you don't have a hybrid. The system shuts the car down during long periods of idling, so you're not burning gas while sitting still.
- New optional package. The 2021 Corolla also gives you the choice to add on the Apex Edition to your car, making it more sporty with summer tires and a sports-tuned suspension system.
